Impaired-driving task forces exist to address problems caused by impaired driving primarily through enforcement and education activities. These task forces are sometimes created by State agencies and operate at the state-wide level. Prior research has shown that state-wide impaired-driving task forces can have a beneficial effect on the incidence/occurrence of impaired driving and impaired-driving crashes. This book focuses on assisting officials and members of the public interested in establishing an impaired-driving task force at a local or regional but not state-wide level or who are exploring ways to improve their current task forces.
